Fayose Given 72 Hours Ultimatum to Pay Workers or...

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has been given a 72 hours ultimatum by Nigeria Progressive Vanguard (NPV) to pay the five months outstanding salaries of workers in the State or face mass protest against the State Government.

The group express their dissatisfaction on non payment of salaries to the State workers as at when due and describe such action to be "worrisome, embarrassing and called for" and have decided to go on a mass protest if the State Government refuse to pay its five months outstanding in the next 72 hours.

According to the Group State Chairman, Hon. Bamayi Lawal Adegoke and Secretary, Hon. Tayo Ojo called for serious intervention to save the people of the state from this great hardship that is before them as a result of non payment of salary by the State Government.

The workers in the State were being owed for about 6months and are asking the State Government to pay them that of 5months first as they too are considering the recent economic state of the country.

The Group further said that non payment of salaries for the past months has caused its members to be begging and stealing in the name of they want to provide for their family, thereby bringing shame and disgrace to their family. It was also said that the Governor should stop deceiving the people of the State by living large at home and being sober in the public. And the way that the Governor is portraying the image of the state is no longer acceptable by the sons and daughters of Ekiti State.

Moreover, the people of the State have been supportive to the present Government since its inception and the best way to pay back is to pay State Workers outstanding salaries.
