The Nigeria Dream Team VI unbeaten run at the Rio 2016 Olympic games came to an end after they suffered a 2-0 defeat from the hand of the Colombia National U23 side.The Colombians had already taken lead the 4th minute of the encounter through an easy tap strike from Colombia Captain, Gutierrez.
Nigeria hope of coming back into the game was dashed in the first half after a chance to equalise was wasted by Oghenekaro Etebo. The Colombians should have gotten a 2-0 lead in the first half, but thanks to a world class save from Daniel Akpeyi.
The Nigeria U23 side continues to mount pressure on the Colombians, but the Colombians were focused and determined to ensure their progress into the quarter final.
Colombia second goal came in the 63rd minute of the second half from a spot kick after the exposure caused by Nigeria defenders forced Daniel Akpeyi to bring down Harold Preciadoin in the Nigeria 18yard box, the penalty was well taken by Colombia Pabon.
Moreover, Rio 2016 top goal scorer Oghenekaro Etebo was stretched out in the second half, which could be a blow for the Nigeria side in the quarter final.
