    Italy: Earthquake Death toll rises to 290 as at Saturday, 11:50am Local time

    According to Italian Authorities, more bodies have been recovered from the rubble overnight and during the day in the town of Amatrice, which seems to be the major town with most casualties, taken the number of dead bodies recovered to 290 in Wednesday earthquake that struck Italian towns.

    Information received from the Civil Protection Agency on Saturday morning shows that 230 of 290 dead bodies recovered are from Amatrice while the rest are from nearby town of Accumoli where 11 dead bodies have been recovered so far, and Arquato del Tronto with 49 dead bodies. It is also believed that the dead toll could still rise.

    Italian President, Sergio Mattarella has also paid a visit to the town of Amatrice being the town with most casualties and damages to see the extent of the damages caused by the high magnitude earthquake. Mattarella further thanked everyone that have been on rescue mission since the early hour of Wednesday.

    Ahead of the State funeral, caskets of some victims have been lined-up, with their love ones around them to bid them the final farewell, tear flows as people express their feelings to show their love to those that lost their live. The State funeral is also expected to witness the presence of the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella.
