Football: Flying Eagles depart Abuja for Khartoum showdown

Nigeria U20 male team, the Flying Eagles on thursday departed the shore of the country to Khartoum, Sudan, for their first leg match against Sudan U20 male side at the on going 2017 Africa Youth Championship Qualifier.

The trip that was scheduled for Wednesday could not materialised due to some challenges.

The Nigeria side will hope to overpower their Sudanese counterpart as they lock horns by 8:00pm on Sunday. The match was earlier scheduled for Friday but was shifted to Sunday by the Sudanese Football Federation. Nigeria is the first side to face the Sudanese since the beginning of the qualifier following the withdrawal of Malawi from the competition.

The team that left for Khartoum includes 18 players and 9 Nigeria Football Federation Officials led by Ibrahim Gusau, the Zamfara FA Chairman. The team departed Abuja around 12:00pm via an Ethiopia Airways Flight on Thursday.
