20 people have lost their lives in two passenger trains head-on collision in southern Apulia, Italy. The incident occurred between the coastal town of Bari and Barletta.
Report says, the two trains involved were on a single-track lane when the collision occurred.
Emergency service are doing their best to rescue passengers from the crashed carriages.
According to Local Police Chief, Riccardo Zingaro "I think there are many dead, some of the carriages were extensively damaged, there are fear that numbers of deaths could rise still further."
Among the rescued was a small child who was flown into the Hospital immediately. Several others also sustained different level of injuries.
The cause of the collision is still unclear to the Officials. The incident happened around 09:30GMT in Southern part of Apulia.
Nevertheless, human factor was observed to have being the cause of the collision.
